you are advocating education about drugs and for some people, the same reaction they have about educating kids about sex, how do you first get into the specifics, how do you deal with the mindset that says you can't indicate about drugs. or you put people in jail but candy educate people about jugs--drugs. how do you deal with those people? >> i would like to say i am a person who has no time for disingenuous people and stupid people. [applause] >> if you are ignorant, that is okay but if you are obstinately ignorant i have no time for you. my conversation is for people who are genuinely concerned about the problems which we face. to answer the question how do i deal with it? first of all, i have to have people understand when we think about drugs, particularly illegal drugs if we look at illegal drugs they are the same drugs in medicine to treat various conditions. think about methamphetamines. it is the same drug as the drug we used to treat attention deficit disorder. that tells the thinking person that these drugs can't be used safely under some conditions and so we think about apps.

it was a really successful -- a successful education program. we saw the signs on muni bus station, you saw them on tv. and what actually happened as one outcome of that is anecdotally, people told us that they started to drink more water once they understood where it comes from. but also as people had water quality concerns, some of the concerns that christina alluded to in her presentation, people started calling 311 more. so, we had a 10% increase in water quality concerns and that again became another vehicle to talk to people about where their water came from to test to make sure the water was safe and assure them that, you know, in fact it was safe to drink. we also do tours of our water system. so, community residents and organization has an opportunity to go up to hetch hetchy to see the water system at work. supervisor cohen has been a big supporter of the youth internship program we do in the summer for around the sewer system. so, actually right now we have a number of young people from the bayview hunters point who participated this

department of education. accreditation review is conducted in four phases. the process involves internal self-evaluation, external evaluation by professional peers, commission evaluation, and institutional self-improvement to meet your goals. the accreditation standards describe best practices in institutional operations. this encompasses everything about an institution. your mission, your effectiveness, instruction, support services, facilities, library learning resources, human resources, financial operations, facilities, physical resources, technology resources, fiscal management, governance, and decision making. >> can i pause you for just a sec? [speaker not understood] your next statement, but the accreditation standards, where are those set? >> those are set in the accreditation reference handbook. again, it's a peer process. so, the standards also go through an evaluation process where they can make changes to those standards. they're general statements of what an institution needs to have. the commission and the standards do not dictate how to meet

educating them about reproductive health and equality is done peer to peer. despite great strides, recent headlines underscore the need for high quality information about reproductive health. >> we have read many cases of abandoned babies. we don't want such a thing to happen to, you know, a life, you see? and our concern is the young person, if she was given sufficient information, she was given enough knowledge, she would use a contraceptive if she was to have sex. >> we traveled a few hours outside of kuala lumpur to a town called melaka where that support is being offered. >> here at the integrated family services, teens both male and female come to learn about family planning from peer educators. >> i am a muslim girl...i am talking about sex and what i am teaching them about it. but then we are looking at it from another perception, which is health perception, our work is based on marginalized community. so we have seen a lot of young people with hiv positive. young people with stds. so we do not want it to happen that is my position, my principle when

that's what we naed to educate ourselves on. as i've said and if i have identified all the different players, it does take a village to raise our kids. it does require us to understand not only what happens in the classroom, what happens on the school grounds, what happens in programs that we all cherish so much on and off our school sites, it's online and it's off-line that we also have to concern ourselves with. it is with kids that have both parents and kids without the parents at home that it's happening. we need to embrace a full court program on this because the numbers tell us and dictate to us that we have to have this high level strong fierce collaboration to end bullying and to make sure it doesn't proceed into its worst stages. and so i want to just thank everyone for this collaboration, i know our human rights commission, theresa, is here, i know commissioner is here as well and all of the bay area to work together to utilize the resources that our justice department is offering. their guidance and leadership as well
